A fun #SwatchWednesday today:
Octopus Fluids neon pigment inks
Kakimori stainless steel dip nib
I don't really have much occasion to use these, I don't do highlighting or anything, but these samples came from my 2023 Secret Santa and I thought I would finally see what they look like.
@paradoxmo Interesting! Are these intended as hi-lighters--to go over existing text? Have you ever used them to highlight your own writing? Does it muddy and blur or is there some magic involved so it doesn't?
@AllysonShaw yes I believe that is the intent, but I think it does not work with things written with FPs as the ink is water-based and would make other FP ink run. I have not tested it, but that is my understanding of what would happen.
I believe it is for highlighting e.g. things printed on laser printer or books.
The other order will work, though, if you highlight an area, wait for it to dry, and then write on top of it.
@paradoxmo Anything interesting happen on those when hit with a UV light? The orange in particular looks like it might.
@jimp Yep, they're all actually fluorescent to one degree or another: https://imgur.com/a/ZFwh4Tw
@paradoxmo those are very pretty, especially the violet. I'm not much for highlighting either but I feel like I'd want to find a use for them just to enjoy the pop of colour!
@terri yes—the violet is the only one out of the six I could imagine actually using as a normal writing ink.
@paradoxmo Wow, you got these in 2023 and have only now swatched them? Strong willpower.
@jezlyn I mean they are neon, with a never-ending queue of inks to try that hasn't dipped below 25, these got deprioritized
