project day 9

Robert Oster Rose Gold Antiqua
Sailor Hocoro 1.0

Lovely true rose-gold (not "pink") ink with copper-gold shimmer, a pleasure to write with! Flows pretty well for a shimmer ink, too.

@paradoxmo

Looks great! I think I am going to get me a sample.

@paradoxmo I love this one when it works, and it's so pretty, but boy have I had trouble keeping it flowing well when I have it in a pen for a month.

@terri what pen are you using? You need the right kind of pen to handle shimmer. I find that Pelikans and Senators are the best, followed by Wing Sung 698

@paradoxmo I think it's mostly been in a TWSBI eco, so maybe not the best choice? I don't have any of the others yet!

@terri personally I have not had a very smooth experience with TWSBI and shimmer, but some people say that’s their go-to pen for it so YMMV I guess?

Wing Sung 698 is a $25 pen so it’s relatively low commitment if you want to try it.

@paradoxmo yeah, probably worth a shot just for comparison. I'm definitely in the "buy a new $25 pen every month and see what sticks" part of my journey. Looks like the low end Pelikan Twists are similar in price, but I don't know if the nibs would work?

@terri I do not have experience using the Twist for shimmer so I can’t say definitively. (The Pelikans I’m referring to as good for shimmer are the piston fillers like the M200.) But whether a pen works for shimmer is mostly about the feed and filling mechanism, and less about the pointy bit. I use F and EFs on the Pelikans and Senators with zero issues.

@paradoxmo i had assumed it was the combo of all those parts, but it makes sense that the pointy bit is probably the least important there!
